MINNIE’S MIDNIGHT MASSACRE (2026)

In the 7th grade, best friends Bell, Evie, Honey, and Will relentlessly picked on little Minnie-Winnie and went so far as to lock her in the rat-filled basement of an abandoned building. Minnie-Winnie was never found, and the four friends made a vow to never again speak of the dirty deed. Twenty years later, the four friends reconnect for a weekend getaway AirB&B. But unbeknownst to them, a woman with a Minnie Mouse mask lurks in the shadows and begins picking them off one by one.

Brett Bentman delivers a rather generic slasher that puts a bunch of pretty people in one location and then picks them off one by one. Pretty standard stuff, but the Bentman tosses in one or two twists before the credits roll. It’s your standard fare, but the kills are decently gory and done with a dark sense of humor.

This being another public domain horror, the “thrill” of MINNIE’S MIDNIGHT MASSACRE comes from the fact that Minnie has gone into the realm of public domain and the first inclination low-budget producers get is to make the property into a killing machine. The thing that sets this one apart from most is that Minnie is actually kind of freaky looking, killing people with a playful attitude. The mask looks surreal as well. It’s a simple mouse mask but paired with a black body suit and some rats, and they’ve got something somewhat frightening on their hands.

This is nowhere near elevated horror. I mean, this is sub-basement horror. But it’s better than some of the Steamboat Willie films that were shat out last year.
