Looking forward to your thoughts on this one!

I absolutely loved it. Its DEFINITELY a flick best served going in with as little knowledge as possible. For you folks out there with Shudder (which, should be most all visiting this site!) check it out as soon as possible! Its a one of a kind flick! Dont read further..just watch it!!

    Spoilery observations:

    * May be one of the best examples i can think of that proves smart writing and creativity can elevate a VERY low budget movie above and beyond a lot of big budget flicks.

    * The overall movie is crazy layered….i think its like 5 layers…1) original low budget movie, 2) low budget movie attacked by real zombies, 3) reveal its a show and time spent learning about cast, 4) filming day and all the crap that goes wrong, 5) credits footage which seems to indicate there WAS a one-shot version filmed (talk about meta meta!).

    * There are moments during the first 35 m that seem a tad bit off…and weird…at first i thought maybe its because its a low budget foreign movie and its just something im not used to….all of this is paid off wonderfully in the final scenes where all the shooting-day “challenges” are revealed.

    * Amidst the myriad of layers to this movie, its absolutely a love letter to filmmaking and teamwork. How the team comes together for the final ‘crane’ shot is a strangely moving and wonderful moment.

    * No matter how many times they show it, the director running in and yelling ACTION during the craziness makes me cackle EVERY time.

Peace ..n. One Cut of Great Movie Making
