If you’re a fan of the original WOLFCOP, a film that relishes in gore, gratuity, and grotesque in a heaping pile of nostalgia and raunchy comedy, then you’re going to be the target audience for ANOTHER WOLFCOP. The film remains impressively consistent from original to second and while some of the jokes are repeated, this is one hairy good time of a movie.

Picking up not long after the original WOLFCOP, cursed officer Lou Garou (Leo Fafard) still struggles with alcoholism, a lack of respect for following the code of the law, and of course, lycanthropy. When a business mogul decides to build a new brewery (and a new hockey rink) in town, introducing his new ChickenMilk Beer to the world, it looks as if the small town Wolfcop protects is due for some economic rise. But it turns out this factory produces a beer that infects the drinker with a sort of virus making a giant penis-like worm sprout from their bellies when activated. It’s up to Wolfcop and his crew of noble, but goofy cops to take out the bad guys and their big business!

Also, Wolfcop fucks a cat lady.

As with the original film, ANOTHER WOLFCOP really is a highlight reel for practical special effects. The Wolfcop costume is pretty damn amazing, incorporating basic elements of a law enforcement officer with a truly bestial lycanthrope that is surprisingly adherent to the Universal werewolf, by way of the 2010 remake of THE WOLFMAN with Benicio Del Toro. It also incorporates a truly gnarly and slimy skinwalker-style transformation seen in FOX’s old WEREWOLF miniseries. Loving both of these designs, the look of Wolfcop and the splattery carnage he unleashes is a gorehound’s delight.

The comedy here works just about as well as it does in the first. While there is an ample amount of gore, the tone of this film is more of a nostalgic feel. Wolfcop functions in this film not unlike the werewolves in the original two TEEN WOLF movies do. Some people are terrified, but others are simply ok with it, and the more people ok with Wolfcop’s appearance takes away from the shock of the film. The wolf on cat sex scene is somewhat shocking, but kind of repeats a lot of the humor from the sex scene in the original. The inclusion of Kevin Smith as a scene chewing corrupt mayor will please his legions of followers, but it really doesn’t add anything to the film and the scenes feel more like last minute add-on shots than anything else. Personally, I’m not a fan of his humor anymore, so these scenes left me cold.

The action and wet gore is what I will take away from ANOTHER WOLFCOP. The storyline is sort of a lift from HALLOWEEN 3: SEASON OF THE WITCH, as both are about a corrupt corporation handing out products that can be activated with the flick a switch. But props to Lowell Dean for being consistent from original to sequel. I’d be up for another WOLFCOP entry in this series, and it seems from the mid-credits sequence, that we will be getting one.
