Its a good flick- but it lacked in humor and I wish it were scarier. In Evil Dead 1 and the remake, those two juxtapose each other well. They had one Eyeball Gag, but I needed some Demon Taunting and a something actually terrifying.

I want to agree with you. But I think the eyeball callback gag was one of the weaker moments of the film. I was much more amused by some of Ellie’s comments to her kids while possessed. It would have been fun to have some more darkly humorous moments, like the laughing deer’s head in Evil Dead II, which always freaked me out. I’m glad they didn’t do the slapstick though.
